First Eve, then Afton...

All the baby books say to stick with breast milk or formula until baby starts to show interest in food. One book says four months, another says nine. Little Miss A, at a whopping 14 weeks old was sitting on my lap last night, when I was eating an apple. I had the apple resting on my lap, near her lap, when she opened her mouth wide and leaned in to lick the apple. She pulled back, made a crazy face and dove in again, like it was a chocolate fountain. I realized at that moment, a door to a whole other world of food just swung wide open, introducing the baby to food. What a huge responsibility. If I ever had incentive to overhaul how I eat, what I eat, it's here and now. I want her to be the kind of kid who'll dive into a bowl of pho and a sushi roll and vegetable samosas. I want to limit the prepackaged crap on toast stored on the bottom shelf, stuffed with marshmellows, magically delicious junk sold directly to kids. Whew, my job just got so much harder.
